West Qurna-2 Project

LUKOIL Mid East Limited implements large-scale capital project - exploration and production of oil and gas on the giant West Qurna oil field in the Southern Iraq.

Providing employment opportunities

Today around 1,100 people are working on the West Qurna-2 project. 40% of them are expats and 60% - local staff. On top of that, around 1000 local citizens are working for LUKOIL as contractors.

Occupational and Environmental Safety

The main priority of the Company is to ensure safe working conditions, protect employees’ and local population’s health as well as to preserve the environment.

Local Community Development

Wars and sanctions during the 1980s-2000s took a huge toll on Iraq’s infrastructure, including its education, healthcare, sanitation, transportation, water and electric systems. LUKOIL has teamed up with local authorities in an effort to mitigate this damage.
